A green glutinous rice ball covered with freshly shredded coconut and filled with melted gula melaka. It is soft, chewy, sweet, and fragrant.

由来
  • 椰丝糯米糍的英文名为 “ondeh ondeh”（另外也拼写为 “onde onde” 或 “oneh oneh”），在马来西亚又被称为 “buah melaka”。
  • 有一种说法认为椰丝糯米糍源于马来或娘惹文化，但也有说法称其源自印尼的一种名叫 klepon 的传统甜点。
  • 椰丝糯米糍的原料包括新鲜的椰丝、班兰叶、糯米粉、木薯粉、椰糖、班兰浓缩汁等。制作时，先将新鲜的椰丝加入盐，（也可以加入班兰叶）蒸 10 分钟。接着将糯米粉和木薯粉混合，加入班兰浓缩汁和糖水，揉搓成面团。之后将面团分成小份，把椰糖碎包入小面团，再搓成球状，并将糯米球放入沸水中，煮到其浮上水面。最后将煮好的糯米球捞出，沾上之前准备好的椰丝即可。
  • 2009 年，新邮政（Singpost）推出的一套 “本地甜点” 邮票中就印有甜点椰丝糯米糍。
ETYMOLOGY
  • The glutinous rice balls are called ondeh ondeh (also spelled as “onde onde” or “oneh oneh”) in English and are also known as buah melaka in Malaysia.
  • One belief is that ondeh ondeh originated from Malay or Nonya culture, but there is also a belief that it originated from a traditional Indonesian dessert called klepon.
  • The raw ingredients of the ondeh ondeh include freshly shredded coconut, pandan leaves, glutinous rice flour, tapioca flour, coconut sugar, concentrated pandan juice and so on. To make ondeh ondeh, salt (and optionally, pandan leaves) must be added to freshly shredded coconut and steamed for ten minutes. Next, the glutinous rice flour and tapioca flour have to be mixed together, then kneaded into dough after concentrated pandan juice and sugar water are added in the mix. After the dough is divided into small portions, coconut sugar crumbs are wrapped within each portion and the portions are rolled into balls. Next, the balls are put in boiling water until they float. Finally, the cooked glutinous rice balls are scooped up and dipped into the prepared shredded coconut.
  • In 2009, SingPost launched a set of stamps themed Local Desserts and featured the dessert ondeh ondeh.
