由来
  • 在新加坡,报效多用来指赞助社团的公益活动(如施药、捐献物资等)或宗教仪式(如提供酬神供品、修建庙宇等)。
  • 有一种说法认为报效一词源自福建话或潮州话的 po hau报孝),分别含有报答与孝敬的意思。由于 “孝” 与 “效” 在福建话和潮州话里属同音,因此也写作报效。
ETYMOLOGY
  • In Singapore, the Mandarin term “报效” is often used to refer to the sponsoring of communities’ charity activities (such as donating medication and material resources) or religious ceremonies (such as providing offerings for deities and donating to build temples).
  • It is believed that the Mandarin term “报效” originated from the Hokkien or Teochew term po hau (报孝), which means to honour one’s filial piety. As “” and “” are homonyms in the Hokkien and Teochew dialects, the term is also written in Chinese as “报效”.

例句
我们今年的仪式比往年的大,大约花了一万元左右,但这些经费都是由信徒报效。(《联合早报》,22/8/2017
SAMPLE SENTENCE
