ETYMOLOGY
  • The term initially referred only to the packing of leftover food when dining at a restaurant. Subsequently, its meaning was expanded to include ordering food from an establishment and having it packed to be eaten at another location.
  • Although the term “打包” is used in various regions, its meaning of packing leftover food is believed to be only found in Singapore.
