Noun

A day in Singapore to commemorate the fall of Singapore at World War Two. This day also serves to remind Singaporeans the importance of national defence.

由来

1984年新加坡首次举行全面防卫日，日期定为每年的2月15日，主要是为了纪念新加坡于1942年2月15日沦陷及被日军占领。全面防卫日的初衷，主要是提醒人们记得先辈在日据时期所受的苦难。
大部分的全面防卫日活动在新加坡学府举办，当天学校响起警报，新加坡民防部队也借此提醒和教育国人防卫的重要性。
全面防卫日有六大支柱，军事防卫（Military Defence）、民防（Civil Defence）、经济防卫（Economic Defence）、社会防卫（Social Defence）、心理防卫（Psychological Defence）和数码防卫（Digital Defence）。数码防卫是2019年全面防卫日新增设的支柱，主要是提醒公众培养良好的上网习惯、警惕虚假的信息和培养自己的媒体素养。

ETYMOLOGY

The first Total Defence Day was observed in 1984. Henceforth 15 February annually is designated Total Defence Day. It serves to commemorate the fall of Singapore and the Japanese occupation on 15 February 1942. The original purpose of this day was to remind Singaporeans the sufferings of our forefathers during the Japanese occupation.
Most activities on Total Defence Day are held in local educational institutions. On this day, schools will sound the public warning system. The Singapore Civil Defence team will also take this opportunity to remind all the importance of total defence.
Total Defence consist of 6 key pillars: Military Defence, Civil Defence, Economic Defence, Social Defence, Psychological Defence and Digital Defence. Digital Defence was added to the key pillars on Total Defence Day 2019, to remind the public the importance of fostering good online habits, guarding against the spread of false information and cultivating good media etiquette.
