释义

名词

新加坡教育部规定学生参加社区服务的项目。

DEFINITION

Noun

Community service projects in which the Singapore Ministry of Education requires students to participate.

ETYMOLOGY
  • In 2012, the Values in Action (VIA) programme replaced the Community Involvement Programme (CIP), which was introduced in 1997.
  • Like CIP, the VIA programme requires students to complete at least 6 hours of community service per year. It also places greater emphasis on developing the desired core values in students. VIA projects also categorise a student’s performance into five levels, based on their initiative to serve the underprivileged and the general public.
  • In addition, this programme assesses a student’s level of engagement based on their length of service or the number of times they have participated in the programme (or both). The final assessment result can be converted into bonus points for a student’s entry into junior colleges and polytechnics. This bonus points system was implemented from the 2014 Secondary One cohort.
例句
与社区服务计划不同,德育在于行动更注重培养学生的自发及独立性,比如与其由学校决定学生的社会参与对象和范围,学生可以用小组形式,先到社区观察和发掘社区的需要,然后讨论提出试验性的解决方案,接着把方案付诸行动。(《联合早报》,19/9/2018)
SAMPLE SENTENCE
Unlike the Community Involvement Programme (CIP), Values in Action (VIA) focus more on developing a student’s initiative and independence. For example, instead of the school deciding on the target and scope of the community involvement for the students, students could observe and explore the needs of the community in small groups, brainstorm and propose an experimental solution, before putting the proposal into action.
