- “脚” 在福建话里有下面、底下，以及最低处的意思，因此 “大树脚” 即是 “大树下” 的意思。
- 惹兰柏民宾位于碧山（Bishan），北邻宏茂桥（Ang Mo Kio），西南方的主要公路为汤申路上段（Upper Thomson Road）。
- 旧时的惹兰柏民宾路一带为甘榜区，甘榜里有一棵大树，是当地居民的聚集地，也是当地地标。旧时的惹兰柏民宾路可直通汤申路（即如今的汤申路上段），所以当地也有 “汤申大树脚” 的俗称。
- 新加坡也有其他以大树为地标的地方，如宏茂桥有 “宏茂桥608大树脚住户中元会”、宏茂桥大树下大伯公庙等。
ETYMOLOGY
- The term “脚” (kah) in Hokkien means beneath, below or the lowest point, so the term “大树脚” (dua chew kar) means “under the big tree”.
- Jalan Pemimpin is located in Bishan, with Ang Mo Kio to the north and Upper Thomson Road to its southwest.
- The old Jalan Pemimpin was a kampong area. There was a big tree in the kampong where the residents gathered, which was a landmark of the area. As the old Jalan Pemimpin led directly to Thomson Road (the current Upper Thomson Road), the area was also commonly known as “汤申大树脚”（Thomson dua chew kar）.
- There are other places in Singapore with big trees as landmarks, such as the “608 Ang Mo Kio dua chew kar Residents’ Zhongyuan Club ”.
