ETYMOLOGY
  • The Mandarin term “唱片骑师” is a paraphrase of the English term “disc jockey”.
  • The term “disc jockey” (“DJ” for short) was first used in the United States in the 1940s to refer to programme hosts who played recorded music on radio broadcasts. These hosts often chose songs according to their personal preferences, thereby influencing popular music trends.
