  • 在新加坡，摩托车也称为“电单车”。目前，这两个词在本地口语与书面语中，都属于常用词语。
ETYMOLOGY
  • The Mandarin term “摩托” is the transliteration of the English term “motor”. It can also be written as “摩哆” or “摩多”.
  • In Singapore and Malaysia, motorcycles are also called “摩哆西卡”, which originated from Cantonese and is a transliteration of the English term “motorcycle”.
  • In Singapore, the term “电单车” is also used to refer to motorcycles. Both “电单车” and “摩托车” are commonly used in speech and writing.
