  • 摩托取自英语 “motor” 的音译。
  • 摩多车在新马地区也称为“摩哆西卡”，属广东话（广州话、粤语）和英语 “motorcycle” 的音译。
  • 在新加坡也使用“电单车”这个词，其意为摩托车。目前这两个词在本地口语和书面语中，都属于常用词语。
ETYMOLOGY
  • The Mandarin term “摩托” is a transliteration of the English term “motor".
  • In Singapore and Malaysia, motorcycles are also called “摩哆西卡”, which originated from Cantonese and is a transliteration of the English term “motorcycle”.
  • In Singapore, the term “电单车” is also used to refer to motorcycles. Currently, these two terms are commonly used in both speech and writing locally.
