  • 英文 “Science Centre Singapore” 的意译。
  • 新加坡科学馆由前新加坡科学工艺部（Ministry of Science and Technology) 创办，耗资约两千万，并于 1977 年由时任部长的杜进才开幕。
  • 新加坡科学馆的宗旨是培养学生与公众对科学的兴趣，最终为新加坡人力资源的发展做出贡献。
  • 新加坡科学馆坐位于裕廊东（Jurong East），其建筑形状宛如一艘宇宙飞船，馆内设施包括展示厅、教室、讲堂、图书馆等。
  • 除了 20 个常驻展览，新加坡科学馆内也设有著名的雪城（Snow City）、万象馆（Omni-Theatre）和儿童站（KidSStop）。

ETYMOLOGY
  • The Mandarin term “新加坡科学馆” is a paraphrase of the English term “Science Centre Singapore”.
  • The Science Centre was constructed by the former Ministry of Science and Technology at a cost of about $20 million. It was opened in 1977 by then Minister Toh Chin Chye.
  • Science Centre Singapore aims to cultivate a sense of interest in science among students and the public, and ultimately contribute to the development of Singapore’s human resource.
  • The Science Centre is located in Jurong East. Its building is shaped like a spaceship and its facilities include exhibition halls, classrooms, lecture halls, and a library.
  • In addition to its 20 permanent exhibitions, the Science Centre also houses the famous Snow City, Omni-Theatre, and KidsSTOP.
  • In 2014, Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong announced at the National Day Rally that Science Centre Singapore will be relocated to Jurong Lake Gardens in 2025, becoming the centre of the Jurong Lake District.
