Noun

Pouring milk tea back and forth from a container placed at a higher height to one placed at lower height, so that the milk tea will froth and create a thicker and more fragrant tea.

由来
  • 马来语 “teh tarik” 的意译。在马来语中,tarik 即是 “拉” 的意思。
  • 有说法认为拉茶源于马来西亚的印度回教移民,之后在马来亚地区流传开来。
  • 拉茶的做法是将煮好的奶茶来回数次倒入两个器皿中,由于在倒的过程中两个器皿逐渐分开,奶茶好比在空中被 “拉开”,因此得名。
ETYMOLOGY
  • The Mandarin term “拉茶” is a paraphrase of the Malay term teh tarik. In Malay, tarik means “pull” (拉).
  • It is believed that teh-tarik originated from Indian Muslim immigrants in Malaysia, and later spread in Malaya.
  • Teh-tarik is made by pouring brewed milk tea back and forth between two containers several times. As the distance between the two containers is gradually increased in the process of pouring the milk tea, giving the impression that the milk tea is being “pulled apart” in mid-air, hence its name.
