ETYMOLOGY
  • The Mandarin term “制服人员” is a paraphrase of the English term “uniformed officer”.
  • In Singapore, uniformed personnel mainly include soldiers, police officers, staff from the Singapore Civil Defence Force, Singapore Prison Service, Immigration and Checkpoints Authority, and the Central Narcotics Bureau.
  • Apart from military personnel who are under Singapore’s Ministry of Defence, other uniformed officers are staff of the Ministry of Home Affairs and are collectively known as the Home Team.
