名词

锡安路（Zion Road）一带的俗称。

由来
  • 源自福建话或潮州话 dua seh gai au 的意译。
  • 大世界于 1929 年落成，由一处华人坟场修建而成，为附近低收入家庭提供了娱乐休闲活动。
  • 大世界共有四家电影院、一家夜总会及两家餐馆，每年也会举办两次商业展览会，因此成为人们吃喝玩乐的好去处。
  • 随着娱乐休闲的渠道增加，大世界的魅力不再，最终于 1964 年 3 月底关闭。
  • 由于锡安路是位于大世界后方的主要道路，因此被俗称为 “大世界后”。
  • 有说法认为锡安路名称的由来和当地原有的一座名为锡安山的山丘有关。锡安，即 “Zion” 一词则是耶路撒冷（Jerusalem）的代称。
