  • 英语词语 “lazy eye” 的意译。英语 “lazy eye” 是其学名 “amblyopia”（即弱视） 的俗称。
  • 当两只眼睛的视力相差很大，即使戴了眼镜仍无法矫正，视力较差的那只眼睛就称之为 “懒惰眼”。
  • “懒惰眼” 是因为患者在儿童时期尚未发展出正常的视力而造成，一般在七至八岁就形成。
  • 矫正 “懒惰眼” 的主要方法是将视力正常的那只眼蒙上，每天数小时，从而让患者强制性地使用 “懒惰眼”，使 “懒惰眼” 正常发展视力。
ETYMOLOGY
  • The Mandarin term “懒惰眼” is a paraphrase of the English term “lazy eye”, which is the colloquial name for the scientific term “amblyopia”.
  • When there is a big difference between the vision of two eyes, which cannot be corrected even with a pair of spectacles, the eye with poorer vision is known as lazy eye.
  • Lazy eye occurs when normal vision is not developed in childhood, usually at the age of seven to eight.
  • The primary method to correct lazy eye is to cover the eye with normal vision for several hours every day and enforce the use of the lazy eye to develop its normal vision.
