明古连街是陆路交通管理局(Land Transport Authority)为提倡“减少用车”(carlite)而特意重新设计的第一条道路。这是为了打造一个利于步行、骑车及使用公共交通的公共空间。这条路除了设有长凳供行人休息,也设有超过125个脚踏车停放位。
Bencoolen Street is the first road to be specially redesigned by the Land Transport Authority as part of its “car-lite” vision to create public spaces conducive for walking, cycling and public transport. In addition to providing benches for pedestrians, there are also about 125 bicycle parking lots along the street.
