- 英语“Great Singapore Sale”的意译。
- 热卖会自1994年开始，由新加坡零售商协会(Singapore Retailers Association)和新加坡旅游促进局(Singapore Tourist Promotion Board)联合主办。
- 原名为“无限惊喜热卖会”，1996年才改名为“新加坡热卖会”。
- 新加坡热卖会一般在每年的六月至八月间举行。
- 2019年，活动改名为“GSS新加坡热卖会：体验新加坡”。
- 2020年，由于冠病疫情的关系，热卖会改在线上进行，并推迟至9月9日到10月10日，名为“eGSS·购物·赢奖·体验(Shop.Win.Experience.)”。
- 热卖会不仅仅是购物节，也是一种零售体验，主要是为了吸引本地人和旅客进行消费。热卖会期间，顾客享有较大的折扣、赠品、抽奖等优惠。
- 除了购物，热卖会还包括用餐、玩乐、探索及生活等方面的促销活动。

ETYMOLOGY
- The Mandarin term “新加坡热卖会” is a paraphrase of “Great Singapore Sale”.
- Launched in 1994, the Great Singapore Sale was jointly organised by the Singapore Retailers Association and Singapore Tourist Promotion Board (now the Singapore Tourism Board).
- The term “无限惊喜热卖会”, meaning “The Great Sale of Unlimited Surprises”, was initially used to refer to the event in Mandarin. It was renamed “新加坡热卖会” in 1996.
- The Great Singapore Sale is usually held annually from June to August.
- In 2019, the event was renamed “GSS: Experience Singapore”.
- In 2020, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, activities were moved online and the event period was postponed until 9 September to 10 October. It was renamed “eGSS: Shop. Win. Experience.”.
- The Great Singapore Sale is not only a shopping event, but aims to encourage consumption among both locals and tourists. During the event period, consumers enjoy greater discounts, free gifts, and
lucky draws.
- Other promotional activities include dining, recreation, discovery and lifestyle offerings.
- Activities are also organised at key cultural and historical sites, such as
