  • 国家文物局（National Heritage Board）属下的印族文化馆（Indian Heritage Centre）于2015年5月7日由总理李显龙正式开幕启用。
  • 印族文化馆位于小印度的中央地带，访客可顺道参观小印度，感受丰富多彩的印度文化。
  • 四层楼高的印族文化馆总建筑楼面面积为3,090平方米，外观的设计结合现代与传统印度建筑的特色。馆内设有五个永久展览区、活动区及屋顶花园等。
  • 印族文化馆共设有五个主题，时间轴横跨公元1世纪至21世纪，主要探索殖民时代新加坡和马来西亚印度社群的经历，突出了南亚与东南亚之间的历史渊源，以及印度同胞对现当代新加坡政治与社会的贡献。

ETYMOLOGY
  • The Indian Heritage Centre, under the National Heritage Board, was officially opened by Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong on 7 May 2015.
  •  The Indian Heritage Centre is located in the centre of Little India. Visitors can also visit Little India to experience the rich and diverse Indian culture.
  • The four-storey Indian Heritage Centre has a total floor area of 3,090 square metres, and its exterior design integrates the characteristics of modern and traditional Indian architecture. There are five permanent exhibition areas, activity zones, and a roof garden in the museum.
  • The Indian Heritage Centre has five themes, traversing from the first to the 21st century. They explore the experiences of Indian communities in colonial Singapore and Malaysia, highlighting the historical relationships between South Asia and Southeast Asia, and the contributions of the local Indian community to politics and society in modern and contemporary Singapore.
  • Before its opening, the Indian Heritage Centre sought cultural artefacts from the public and received enthusiastic responses from both local and overseas Indian communities. For example, descendants of a local Indian businessman donated a precious family heirloom necklace.
