ETYMOLOGY
  • The Mandarin term 快熟面” is a paraphrase of the English term “instant noodles”.
  • A characteristic of instant noodles is that they can be quickly prepared for consumption, after cooking in hot water for a few minutes. Seasoning and ingredients can then be added.
  • The noodles are processed by deep frying or baking, before being packaged for sale. 
  • Since the 1970s, there have been local instant noodle manufacturers in Singapore.
