  • 1996 年，新加坡电信公司（Singtel）独资子公司流动联系（PageLink）正式推出流动办公室服务。
  • 除了接送信息和流动数据（mobile data）之外，流动办公室也备有接收或发送流动传真（mobile fax）和流动简讯（mobile message）等功能。
  • 要使用以上功能，手机必须连接上全球移动通讯系统（Global System for Mobile Communications，简称 “GSM”）或个人通讯网络（Personal Communications Network，简称 “PCN”）。
  • 这样一来，人们只要拥有手机或电脑等设备，便能随时随地办公，不需要连接固定的电话线插头，使流动办公的地点有更广泛的选择（这在 1990 年代十分新鲜）。
ETYMOLOGY
  • The Mandarin term “流动办公室” is a paraphrase of the English term “mobile office”.
  • In 1996, PageLink, a wholly owned subsidiary of Singtel, officially launched mobile office services.
  • In addition to sending and receiving messages and mobile data, the mobile office was equipped with functions such as mobile fax and mobile message.
  • To use these functions, the user’s mobile phone had to be connected to the Global System for Mobile Communications (GSM) or Personal Communications Network (PCN).
  • With this, a person with a mobile phone or computer could work anytime and anywhere without the need to connect to a fixed telephone line and hence have greater flexibility in choosing locations from which to work remotely (a novelty in the 1990s).
