  • 在新加坡,“残障”或“残缺”皆可指有身体缺陷的人群。
  • 在新加坡的使用语境中,人们最初惯用“残缺”一词。但是,由于“残障”一词的意义更广,强调了身体具有缺陷的人士在社会上面对的障碍,因此“残障”一词也开始获得采用。

ETYMOLOGY
  • In Singapore, a person with a physical impairment may be described as either “残障” or “残缺”.
  • The term “残缺” was initially used in the Singaporean context. However, the term “残障” came into greater use due to its emphasis on the barriers (“障碍”) faced by people with physical disabilities, giving the term a broader meaning.
