DEFINITION

Verb

To bathe or take a shower.

由来
  • “冲凉”一词源自广东话。
  • “冲凉”等同于普通话中“洗澡”的含义,既指简单的冲洗,也指仔细的搓洗。
  • “冲凉”的“凉”并不是指水温,而是冲洗身子过后的凉爽舒服感。
  • 在新加坡,不论是淋浴或其他冲洗方式,也无论是用热水或冷水,都可称为“冲凉”。

ETYMOLOGY
  • The term “冲凉” originates from the Cantonese dialect.
  • “冲凉” has the same meaning as the Mandarin term “洗澡”. It can refer to anything from a quick shower to a thorough scrubdown.
  • The character “凉” (literally, “cool”) in “冲凉” does not refer to the water temperature, but rather the refreshing feeling after washing the body.
  • In Singapore, “冲凉” can be used to describe washing one’s body by showering or other means, with either hot or cold water.
