Noun

For every dollar that the public donates or deposits to a designated account or fund, the government will also allocate one dollar towards the same cause.

  • The Mandarin term “一元对一元” is a paraphrase of the English term “dollar-for-dollar”.
  • If the government wants to show support for social initiatives, it will generally provide dollar-for-dollar sponsorship.
  • The dollar-for-dollar policy reduces the financial burden of beneficiary organisations. The government also hopes to encourage the public to  donate more and contribute to charitable initiatives.
